University of Cape Coast (UCC) and University of Education-Winneba (UEW) will face off on Saturday, March 14 in the latest matchup between the rivals.

This weekend’s contest forms part of games in Zone 2 of the 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship to be held at UCC.

UCC and UEW are drawn in the zone alongside defending Zonal Champions Takoradi Technical University (TTU) and University of Mines and Technology (UMaT).

TTU made it all the way to last year’s final after bagging the zonal title but lost to University of Ghana (UG) to clinch the silver medal.

However, the Oilers path to the zonal crown it has won over the past two seasons is sure to be difficult as UCC, UEW and UMaT competed well in the GUSA Games recently.

UCC and UEW ranked second and third in the GUSA Games with UCC’s 79-68 win over UEW the deciding factor on which progressed to the final.

Winner of Zone 2 progresses to the national competition to be held in Ghana’s capital, Accra from April 16 to April 18. The 2020 UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank, MTN and Decathlon.
