BAL President Fall

Basketball Africa League (BAL) President Amadou Gallo Fall has delivered an important message on Corona Virus in the wake of the disease’ global spread.

The message delivered via the BAL official twitter feed underlined the importance of observing preventive measures to avoid the spread of the virus.

The inaugural season of the BAL was scheduled to commence on March 13 in Dakar, Senegal with more game set to be played on March 21 in Monastir, Tunisia.

12 teams were expected to compete in the continental championship prior to the suspension of the league due to the Corona Virus outbreak.

Organizers of the BAL-FIBA and NBA-decided to postpone the start of the tournament to a yet to be named date as a preventive measure.

Several players from Africa and outside the continent have signed to participate in the tournament for various teams including AS Douanes from Senegal, Rivers Hoopers from Nigeria and Zamalek from Egypt.

American born Ghanaian Guard Alhaji Mohammed signed to play for US Monastir before the suspension was announced. There are more than 700 confirmed cases of Corona Virus infections in Africa with 23 in Ghana.
