American born Ghanaian Guard Alhaji Mohammed has expressed his disappointment about the failure of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) to launch in March.

The inaugural season of the joint NBA-FIBA Africa competition was scheduled to tip off on March 13 in Dakar, Senegal with more game slated for Monastir, Tunisia on March 21.

However, the competition was suspended until further notice a few days prior to the start date as a preventive measure to stop the spread of the Corona Virus that has infected over 900 people on the African continent.

Speaking exclusively to Basketballghana.com, veteran Guard Mohammed who was set to play in the BAL for Tunisian Giant US Monastir stated:

“I imagine everyone involved with the BAL is a little disappointed it could not launch in March. We also see how serious this virus is. The safety of the people and health comes first and I think we all understand that”.

Mohammed has an extensive playing career in Europe in Hungary, Spain and Romania after graduating from University of Louisville.
