Former Spintex Knights Basketball Club Head Coach Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi has stated a focus on family affairs played a role in the Coaching change at the club.

He made the statement in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com in the aftermath of Thomas Amediku replacing him as Head Coach.

Knights competed in the Tema Community Basketball League for the first time in the 2019 season that ended in a silver medal win.

“This decision came about because of the need to have a trusted and competent person to be at the helm of affairs to afford me to focus on family” he stated.

Under the guidance of Dr. Opoku-Antwi, Knights dazzled its way to clinch the third seed in the regular season and proceeded to clinch wins in the postseason over the likes of 2017 Tema League Champions, Tema Community 4.

However, the team came unstuck in the finals against defending champions Nungua Coldstore and lost in back to back games to miss out on a title in its debut season.

The 2020 Tema League season is yet to announce a start date over fears of the Corona Virus.
