Bentil celebrates a basket against Barcelona in the EuroLeague last season with Calathes in background

Ghana Forward Ben Bentil will miss the chance to clinch his first ever title as a basketball player since turning pro as the Greece A1 Basketball League has been cancelled.

The League was cancelled in the fallout from the Corona Virus pandemic that forced the league to initially suspend the 2019-2020 campaign before a final decision was recently taken.

Bentil had a quiet campaign on the local front in his first season with the defending league champions after transferring from Peristeri GS. Panathinaikos led the league with 18 wins and two losses but a winner won’t be declared for the season.

The 24 year old averaged 4.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in limited action but had a strong run in the latter stages of the EuroLeague group phase.

The 6 foot 8 inch player who can play Power Forward and Small Forward didn’t play on the local front in Greece as Panathinaikos had filled out its foreign based player cap after signing former NBA players like Wesley Johnson and Jimmer Fredette.

Bentil is the first Ghana born player to play in the NBA.
