The absence of key players is one of the main reasons Francophone All Stars Basketball Club won’t compete in the 2020 Tema Community Basketball League according to Team Captain Emmanuel Kuffour.

He made the statement in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com after Ghana’s biggest hoops portal confirmed the team’s decision to not compete in the league.

After making back to back appearances in the Tema League playoffs decided to not register for next season due to reasons Kuffour pointed out in the interview.

“I won’t have the time to manage a team this year…In addition, our key players have gone and some are set to leave this year when COVID (19) restriction are lifted. Putting all this together, we decided it was best not to participate this year.

The COVID 19 spread has prevented league officials from confirming the 2020 campaign start date since there is a ban on contact sports in Ghana until July 31.

At the time of writing, Ghana has over 15,000 cases of infection with 11,000 recoveries.
