The Basketball Africa League (BAL) has posted a message of support to all frontline health workers involved in the fight against COVID 19 in Africa.

The body unveiled a photo that has a nose mask covering the African continent and added a message that backed The Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA).

“The BAL is proud to join @ALIMA_NGO’s efforts to support healthcare workers in Senegal. Thank you to all the heroes on the frontline striving to keep our communities safe!” the message read.

At the time of writing, Africa had 664000 cases of infection with South Africa leading the way with over 250,000. Ghana has 22, 000 cases of infection.

Tunisian Champions US Monastir of Tunisia has qualified to compete in the BAL

The spread of the corona virus has prevented the maiden edition of the BAL from taking place in March; the continental championship is partnership between FIBA Africa and NBA.

Rivers Hoopers will represent Nigeria at the BAL

12 teams have qualified to compete in the competition with teams representing countries like Rwanda, Nigeria, Tunisia, Senegal, Morocco and Egypt.
