Celebrated Wheelchair Basketball Player and Wheelchair Racer Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe has stated his Para Athlete of the Year win at the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Award will serve as motivation to other para athletes.
He said this when he received the award at the 45th edition of the annual event that rewards outstanding Ghanaian athletes for their achievement.
This year’s event was scheduled to take place earlier but the onset of the corona virus pandemic forced organizers to postpone it.
Nkegbe won the award after having a brilliant campaign from late 2019 to early 2020 that culminated in securing a fourth qualification to the Olympic Games.
Speaking after receiving his award, he said, “I want to tell my colleagues out there that sometimes they should look for ability within them to build on that and do great things in their lives and it (the award) serves as motivation to my colleague para athletes”.
Nkegbe won the 2020 OCC Marathon in South Africa.
