A set of rims on one of the two basketball courts at the Madina Sports Complex have been fixed and has played a role in an uptick in patronage by locals.
The courts were constructed as part of the complex that was inaugurated late last year by Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo.
The complex forms part of Ghana’s Inner City and Zongo Development Ministry initiative to upgrade the lives of people in such communities through sports.

The facility has an astro turf football pitch for 5 aside, changing rooms, washrooms and floodlights beside the basketball courts.
However, rims on one of the courts are yet to be fixed; young individuals have been active playing on the other court with fixed rims.

The construction of the court comes at a time when inadequate playing surfaces have hamstrung the development of players in the country as overcrowded courts in big cities like Accra and Kumasi is a major feature.
Ghana recently lifted the COVID 19 related ban on contact sports.
