Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghanaian-Italian born Player Awudu Abass has been given his latest call up to the Italian National Men’s Basketball Team.

The call up comes ahead of qualification games for the 2022 European Basketball Championship due to take place from November 23 to December 1.

The qualifiers are scheduled to take place in Tallinn, Estonia in an NBA “bubble like” environment where all competing teams are to play games in isolation.

Italy features in Group B with host nation Estonia, North Macedonia and Slovakia; the 2022 Championship is to be held in five cities in Europe.

Abass

Abass makes his return to the national team after making his run with the team at the 2019 World Cup held in China where Italy made it out of the group phase.

The Shooting Guard/ Small Forward moved from Germani Brescia to Virtus Bologna this offseason and has averaged 7.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in five games in 22 minutes.

Abass was born to a Ghanaian father in Italy and won the Under 20 European Championship in 2013.
