Sarpong set the Academy up in 2012 and has managed to train young individuals within the city and close settlements with basketball skills.

However, he pointed out how difficult it is to run the project for eight years stating, “It hasn’t been easy at all even getting a court to train on is not easy but you don’t want to allow that to discourage us from doing what we love to do.”

Products from the Academy have found their way to feature on several rosters in High Schools and Universities/ Colleges across the West African nation.

One of its recognizable products, Kofi Agyei, gained an athletic scholarship to Ateneo De Manilla University in the Philippines. Sarpong is heavily engaged as the lead trainer of the program.
