The year 2020 started on a bad not for University of Professional Studies (UPSA) Men’s Basketball Team due to a poor run of results at the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games.

UPSA missed out competing on the final game which was played between University of Ghana and University of Cape Coast; the team was eliminated from contention earlier on in the biannual tournament.

However, UPSA closed out the year on a strong note after impressing at the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

UPSA finished in fourth place after losing 28-50 to Takoradi Technical University; Legon-based UPSA wasn’t expected to play a major part in the tournament but ended up progressing from Group A alongside Takoradi Technical.

A 27-55 loss to UPAC finalist Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the semifinal halted its dream run.

With the likes of Emmanuel “Meat Pie” Larbi, MacDonald Zane and Ghafaar Aryeetey sticking around, UPSA could end up with a better performance in 2021.
