Basketballghana.com can confirm Mustapha Ussif has been appointed Designate Minister of Youth and Sports in Ghana. He replaces Isaac Asiamah who served as Minister for the first four year term of Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Ussif‘s appointment comes at a time Ghana has struggled to excel in sports disciplines across various international platforms including basketball where Ghana’s absence on the international stage continues.

Ussif is the Member of Parliament of Yagaba-Kubori Constituency and has served on multiple parliamentary committees in previous years.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Business Management from Angilia Ruskin University and an MBA in Finance and Investment from University of Gloucestershire.

His financial and investment background is badly needed in the sector whose grand prospects have been hampered by the lack of investment.

Basketball’s growth in Ghana has been stunted for years due to this especially the absence of world standard arena to host international games and further generate interest in the sport in the country.

Honourable Ussif recently served as Director of Ghana’s National Service Scheme.
