Basketballghana.com gathers Ghanaian Center/Power Forward Derrick Quansah has left the East Carolina University Men’s Basketball program.

“Personal reasons” have been fingered as the cause of his departure from East Carolina according to Writer Stephen Igoe of 247Sports in the United States of America.

Quansah , who stands at 6 foot 11 inches, leaves even before his first year (freshman year) with The Pirates comes to an end. He didn’t compete for the University in an official game.

The young player who was recruited by a handful of scholarship programs as an athletic, rim protector and shot blocker had earlier on this season redshirted his freshman year to continue to learn while maintaining his four eligibility in University.

He did suffer an injury in preseason and his absence was highlighted ahead of East Carolina’s loss to University of Memphis this past weekend as one of the team’s four players who are classified as 7 footers.

Quansah was a Cape Coast native and graduated from Village Christian Academy before accepting East Carolina’s athletic scholarship.
