Basketball Africa League (BAL) President Amadou Fall has welcomed new teams and the new countries they represent to the fold of the BAL.

He did this at the launch of the 2022 BAL edition that is due to due to run from March 5 to May 28 with 12 teams competing in the FIBA Africa-NBA continental competition.

Nile Conference and Sahara Conference will house the various teams and games are to be played in Cairo (Egypt) and Dakar (Senegal) and the top four teams progress to play out the final stages at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda.

Seven teams will compete in the BAL for the first time since the competition’s inception in 2021; FAP from Cameroon, SLAC from Guinea, Cape Town Tigers from South Africa, DUC from Senegal, REG from Rwanda, Espoir Fukash from DRC and Cobra Sport from South Sudan are this year’s debutants.

Speaking at the draw, Fall said, “We are thrilled to welcome seven new teams and four new countries into the second season of the BAL. To BAL fans across the continent and around the world – Game On!”

Zamalek won the maiden edition held last year. Below is the full list of participating teams:
