UCC Women's Basketball Team

University of Cape Coast (UCC) has won the 2022 UCC Wildcats Invitational Basketball Tournament held earlier today at the Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana’s Central Region.

In the Men’s Division, UCC beat arch rival Takoradi Technical University (TTU) 51-35 in the final game to clinch the title; this is the second edition of the tournament.

In the Women’s Division, UCC beat TTU 45-12 in the final game to complete the double appearance on top of the podium. UCC completed the game by going on a 10-0 run in the final quarter after taking a 35-12 third quarter lead.

For the Men’s final, crucial free throw misses at the end of the second quarter and the beginning of the third quarter and a 5-0 run from UCC got the Wildcats the chance to pull away from TTU.

Naa Dedei from the UCC Ladies played a sterling game particularly on defense making key steals to disrupt TTU’s trademark fast break passes.

For the Wildcats, several members played contributing roles to clinch with the likes of Elvis Pobi-Siaw and Emmanuel Ocquaye hitting key shots to clinch the win.
