Basketballghana.com gathers the Greater Accra Basketball Association (GABBA) has given a waiver to the Tema Basketball League to allow players competing in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) to also play in the Tema League.
The waiver recognizes Tema League as a community basketball tournament hence players who compete in the competition are still eligible to play in the 2021-2022 ABL Season.
Prior to the move, players weren’t allowed to compete in multiple league tournaments in Ghana as part of enforcing rules by the regional basketball associations to streamline activities across board.
The ABL Season commenced on March 8 and has nine teams competing in the Men’s Division I with 20 teams competing in the Men’s Division II.
Like the ABL, the Tema League commenced earlier this month and has seven teams competing in the tournament that is in its fifth season. Nungua Coldstore has won three titles with Tema Community 4 clinching the 2017 title.
The 2020 and 2021 seasons were ravaged by the COVID 19 pandemic and its after effects.
