Police (Blue and white) lost to Braves in the previous round

Braves of Customs ended its 2021-2022 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division Regular Season tie against Ghana Police Service on a strong note to grab a 24 point win.

Braves clinched a 59-35 win over Police earlier today at the Prisons Court in Cantonments and maintain its winning streak in the division after falling on the opening day to defending champions Reformers of Prisons.

Prior to the game, Ghana Police Service Female team recorded a 40-34 win over Ghana Army in the Women’s Division. Police is the defending division champion.

Match Report

4:45 minutes into the game, the score was tied at four with Police’s Hammond Abuchow draining a jumper and Braves’ Emmanuel Amoah hitting a three pointer.

Braves went on an 8-3 run that had Ayana Daniel, James Pappoe and Baniba Dodzie score. Emmanuel Dickson got Police’s only converted shot from three point range; Police turned the ball over four times during this run. Abuchow and Dodzie traded baskets to close the quarter as Braves led 20-8.

Prosper Dosu scored four straight points to open the quarter for Police. Dela Coffie, Pappoe and Nii Kwatey scored Braves in a poor second quarter that ended with Customs leading 26-16.

Samuel Abbey registered a breakaway dunk for Braves in the first action of the second half. Fred Ngobo responded for Police with a layup off a hard drive to the basket.

Braves stretched its lead to 33-19 with 3:22 minutes left in the quarter getting points off brilliant play from Ayana and Dodzie. Ayana spun Dosu and laid the ball in inside the paint and Dodzie scored a pretty layup after pulling off a ball fake.

Prince Kumassah scored a three pointer for Police. Braves led 42:26 heading to the final quarter.

Police had a brief run midway through the fourth quarter getting points from Derrick Tagoe, Dosu and Benjamin Debrah. Dodzie buried back to back three pointers and Ayana completed a three point play to end the game 59-35.
