Veteran Nigerian and Zamalek Power Forward Ike Diogu has stated the Egyptian team’s upcoming game against Cape Town Tigers is another challenge the reigning Basketball Africa League (BAL) Champions have to surmount.

He said this in the aftermath of Zamalek’s 80-63 win over South Sudan’s Cobra Sport to open the Nile Conference games of the NBA- FIBA Africa continental competition.

Diogu led Zamalek with 17 points while fellow former NBA player DJ Strawberry added 14 points; Anas Mahmoud rounded up the top performers list for Zamalek by registering a 10 point and 11 rebound double double.

Speaking to the media after starring in his first game in the competition after signing for Zamalek earlier this year, Diogu stated:

“It feels really good, especially playing in front of these amazing fans. One game down, four more left. Anytime you can win is always positive. We don’t take that for granted, every game presents its own challenges, next game will be another challenge for us.”
