Ghana Police Service Men’s Basketball Team had a poor start and couldn’t overturn a 13 point first quarter deficit that led to its latest loss in the 2022 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I Season.

Police lost 43-62 to Leopards in a game played earlier today at the Prisons Court in Cantonments. Prior to the contest, Reformers of Prisons bagged a 70-23 win over Galaxy Basketball in the Female Division.

Derrick Tagoe scored for Police to open the contest. Leonard Agger scored a three pointer and completed a three point play. Teammate Leslie Kormedodah got points for Leopards as Police committed multiple turnovers.

Benjamin Debrah and Emmanuel Dickson combined for bucket and Debrah scored a tough layup but missed out on completing a three point play after missing the eventual free throw as he got fouled on the earlier drive. Police trailed 8-21 at the end of the first quarter. 

Huzei Alhassan’s jump shot was sandwiched by layups from Debrah and Dickson. Samuel Atiapah buried an uncontested three pointer from the corner to put Leopards up 37-19 at half time. 

Samuel Kobla buried two free throws after Police forced a turnover to set Debrah up for a fast break layup. Leopards went on a 6-0 run with Nathaniel Killian, Alhassan and Brandon Tettey scoring layups.

Debrah completed a three point play, Dickson scored and Erasmus Dankwah set up Prosper Dosu for an easy layup as Police went on a good run of their own. Police trailed 31-54 heading into the third quarter.

Police missed opportunities to get points on the board with Prince Kumassah missing a pair of free throws and Dickson missing a fast break layup.

Koblah grabbed an offensive rebound to score for Leopards. Dankwah scored late freethrows and Fred Ngobo added a layup for Police. Leopards won 62-43
