Team UG won the 2019 UPAC edition

The University of Ghana (UG) Men’s Basketball Team was the biggest winner at the Basketball Honours 2022 in the Tertiary Level this past weekend. (Click highlighted text to view full list of winners)

The maiden edition of the award scheme introduced by RITE Sports Limited to honour individuals and organizations roles in developing basketball in Ghana was held on Friday, June 17 at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Headquarters.

While Mfantsipim School and Aggrey Memorial Zion School dominated the Boys Division and Girls Division at the High School Division, UG bagged the Best University Male Basketball Team Award on the night.

The Guerillas won the top award based on winning four titles in a row at the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

UG also won the Federation of Sports Universities (FASU) Games in 2016 and 2018 while winning the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) in 2016, 2018 and 2020.

The UPAC is Ghana’s biggest basketball competition at the tertiary level; Mfantsipim and Aggrey won based on their standout performances at the Sprite Ball Championship.
