Junior Ball Competition

The second edition of Junior Ball Competition (JBC), basketball, music and dance competition for basic schools in Ghana promises to showcase some of Ghana’s most brilliant teenage ballers who have vowed to display nothing but skill, speed, energy and a high degree of accuracy in basketball history.

This year’s event which comes off on Saturday February 27th, 2010 at the Aviation Social Centre will expose young talented ballers who will be in the thick of an enthralling and scintillating basketball experience interspersed with music and dance competitions. Sixteen selected basic schools drawn from various zones in the Accra Metropolis will front the campaign, battling it out for the ultimate trophy, attractive cash prizes plus products from sponsors.

In line with Rite Multimedia’s vision to extend and build capacity for the game of basketball in Ghana, it is the dream of the organizers to fully expand the Junior Ball Competition to cover the entire nation in the coming years with adequate support and sponsorship from corporate bodies.

Great Lamptey Mills School won the maiden competition held on 24th March 2007. The defending champions are expected to face stiff competition and robust opposition this second season as schools like Association International, Alfa Beta, Soul Clinic, Jack and Jill, Morning Star and the Burma Camp based Kotoka Basic School among others are determined to cause an upset.

All participating  schools will commence vigorous training sessions in January after the Christmas and New Year  break as part of preparations for an exciting, gruelling and an uncompromising competition.
Fans are expected to be held spell-bound during the day’s competition and the various coaches are in buoyant mood ahead of the February 27 assignment.
