Meng Li of China was named the MVP of the inaugural FIBA U17 World Championship for Women.

Li, who is just 15-years-old, led China to a bronze medal and helped her team compile a 6-2 record.

Wang Guizhi’s charges lost to Belgium, 90-80, in Group B of the Preliminary Round last Tuesday, but made up for that result by beating them 85-73 on Sunday in the bronze medal game.

China’s only other loss was against the USA, 97-74, in Saturday’s semi-final.

Li averaged 15.4 points (8th best among all players), 6.2 rebounds (17th) and 4.0 assists (4th).

The 185cm forward made the most three-pointers in the tournament (21) and ranked sixth in accuracy from beyond the arc (42.9 percent).
