Defending Champions Kumasi Technical Institute has been dumped out of the 2010 Sprite Ball Championship after a nail-biting 11-10 defeat to highly unpretentious Nkawie on Saturday.

KTI were shell-shocked at the main basketball court of Opoku Ware School following their lackluster display. The champions looked from their best and it was a shocking performance from the side that won all their matches enroute to be crowned champions for the first time in 2009.

They lacked ideas and their team spirit and chemistry was simply deficient as they lost to their rather unknown opposition. The defeat means they will not be in a position to defend the trophy they won last year and will not be part of the Ashanti regional representative for the National event in Accra in December.

The current situation has present powerhouse and rivals Prempeh College and Opoku Ware School to stake a huge claim for the title in the coming hours.

In the other game on Saturday St Louis opening their account on a blistering note beating Prince of Peace Girls 17-4.

The action is happening live at the Opoku Ware School, Santasi, in the Ashanti regional capital of Kumasi.
