Marshalls University College basketball team beat DC Dynamics 64-60 on Saturday Ferbruary 20 at the Christ Temple Court in Abossey Okai as the team continues preparations for the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The Championship, headlined by world best-selling deodorant Rexona, will take place between March 5- April 16 and have 28 tertiary institutions compete for Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball trophy.

Despite the win, Marshalls head coach James Okine was not too impressed with his side’s play as his team had a torrid time separating themselves from the Dansoman-based side throughout the entire game. Marshalls completed the first half with a 31-29 lead.

“ We still have a lot of work to do” coach Okine said after the game.

Dynamics coach Feranmi Olulonyo was however, not bothered by the result saying:

“ Scoreboard victory isn’t the only parameter for measuring success. The goal is how we play”.

After securing a surprise fourth place in last year’s edition, Marshalls face a massive test in Zone G as they are set to face 2016 Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Basketball Champions University of Ghana, Wisconsin University College and Central University College.

DC Dynamics will play in the Greater Accra Basketball Division One League following a wonderful run to secure qualification from the lower division.

The 2016 UPAC Basketball Championship is supported by CAL Bank, Fanyogo and MTN in partnership with media outlets including TV3, Y FM and Basketballghana.com and Graphic Sports.
