Despite losing 13-26 to Central University College in a warm up game at the University of Ghana on Saturday, Blue Crest College should not be counted of title contention according to team captain Gideon Kusi (with ball).

The game were organized as part of activities to whip up interest in the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship which is headlined by Rexona and begins on March 5 at the University of Ghana.

Set to play in what will be the institution’s first ever appearance in Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition, Blue Crest College was one of 10 institutions that participated in the curtain raiser.

In an interview with Basketballghana.com, the captain said:

“It’s a warm up game so we are looking forward to picking up ourselves for the next game. So the teams we are going against, they should watch out. It’s a loss but that doesn’t mean it’s our downfall we are really going to come up in our next game.”

“We really need to win this competition so whatever it takes to win that competition we are really coming for it.”

Blue Crest will play defending champions Accra Polytechnic, Valley View University and Zenith University College in Zone F come April 1.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona and supported by Fanyogo, MTN and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports.
