Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration’s (GIMPA) Forward Kwame Boamah Djan strongly believes his side will make it out of its’ group in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship which takes place between March 5 and April 16.

GIMPA plays Ho Polytechnic, Ghana Technology University College (Accra) and University of Professional Studies (UPSA) on the tournament’s opening on March 5 at the University of Ghana. The third edition of the championship is headlined by premier deodorant brand Rexona.

Djan, a former high school standout at St. Augustine’s College, was confident his side will impress in the main tournament despite suffering a 22-34 loss to Accra Polytechnic in a warm up game.

He said, “We are qualifying in our group because UPSA beat us the last time by two points and it was just me and McMartey and a few players but this time we have more experienced players who didn’t even show up today so I think during the qualification matches we will win, we will top the group.”

GIMPA failed to qualify to the latter stages of the competition last year where the team played familiar foes UPSA and Ho Polytechnic.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona and supported by Fanyogo, MTN and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports.

  1. I have known Kwame for quite sometime now. Playing against him is hell he will chase you down, block you and when you’re not lucky he might even dunk on you. Gimpa is a good look for him but he can’t do it all . He needs help from time to time . I will be there to watch the games on Saturday at 8am UPSA campus . Godspeed everyone .
