Zone A games for the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship scheduled to take place on March 5 have been moved from the University of Professional Studies to the University of Ghana center court.

The 2016 UPAC Championship, headlined by Rexona, begins this Saturday with University of Professional Studies (UPSA), Ho Polytechnic, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Ghana Technology University College set to compete for a quarter final spot in Zone A.

Prior to the change of venue, UPSA was scheduled to host the Zone A preliminary games of Ghana’s grandest tertiary basketball tournament but has been stripped of hosting rights due to logistical challenges the Legon-based institution is grappling with.

Information gathered by Basketballghana.com points to the deplorable state of the institution’s court which is characterized by faded line markings and a sub-par standard backboard as the main reason for the relocation.

Two rounds of games will be played simultaneously with the fifth and sixth games to be played subsequently.
Activities such as three-point shooting contest and bouncing chairs-an amalgamation of musical chairs and basketball handling skills- will be held during game intervals.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is supported by Fanyogo, MTN and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports.
