Valley View University’s Women’s Basketball Team have been crowned champions of the 2016 Private Universities Students Association (PUSAG) Games Female Basketball competition. The ladies from Valley View won the title after winning three games at El-Wak Stadium in Accra.
The ninth PUSAG Games had over 38 private institutions in the country compete for honours in multiple sports disciplines including football and netball. However, the basketball competition drew the most compelling matchups of the three day festival.
Valley View rose above a strong competitive field that included Presbyterian University College, Central University College and Islamic University College.Valley View beat Central University 7-6, Presbyterian University 12-4 and Islamic University 18-1 respectively.
In the men’s division, Marshalls University College emerged champions after beating surprise package Radford University College in the final. The Accra-based institution made good on its’ huge reputation going into the tournament by beating Radford University College 44-42 in second overtime.
The annual event which began in 2007, was held under the theme “Strengthening Peace Through Universities Games”.
