Marshalls University College and University of Ghana (UG) steam rolled their way to another dose of massive wins in the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
Both teams having recorded respective wins against Central University College and Wisconsin University College in the opening round, secured victories in the second round of games. Marshalls University College beat Wisconsin University College 51-25. UG , on other hand roasted Central University 67-35.
Marshalls and UG effectively sealed top spot between either team as Wisconsin and Central went winless after two games. UG lead the zone with a big goal difference following a 52-32 win over Wisconsin whereas Marshalls managed a 12 point win over Central University in the first round.
The consecutive wins set up an anticipated matchup between Marshalls and UG. The reigning GUSA (Ghana Universities Sports Association) Basketball Champions will battle with reigning Private Universities Students Association Games (PUSAG) Basketball Champions, Marshalls University.
However, Wisconsin and Central University will play for third spot in the zone before the top clash. Zone A’s outstanding game between Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Pentecost university College will be played to decide the team that qualifies from the zone before then.
The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by Fanyogo, MTN and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports.
