Galaxy Ladies Coach Hashim Brimah has pinned his side’s 24-37 loss to Braves of Customs in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division to fatigue. The loss was the team’s first in the 2016 season having won two straight games.

Despite having an 11-6 lead heading into the second quarter, Galaxy couldn’t hold on as Braves featured strongly in the third and fourth quarters to register a second win. Speaking to Basketballghana.com, he said:

“What attributed to our defeat was because we were relaxed in the first quarter. We were not playing very aggressive in the third quarter I think it was fatigue. Our defense is supposed to contain them we were able to contain them but because were fatigued that’s why they had a little problem”.

Galaxy exploited Braves lack of size in the paint as Gloria Gyampoh fell into foul trouble early in the game. Galaxy’s Naa Shika Moffat dominated the boards sparking the team to an 11-6 win in the first quarter.

However, Galaxy’s threat was erased with the introduction of Braves Matilda Gordon and reintroduction of Gyampoh in the game. The duo proved unstoppable in the post accounting for most of Braves points in the second half against a visibly tired Galaxy side.
