New format for the 2016 Accra Basketball League (ABL) where two teams get relegated after one round of 10 games means DC Dynamics will have to win its third game against Tudu Magic in order to have a chance of staying in the league.

The Dansoman -based side is yet to win a game in the season following back to back losses against Teshie Rangers (50-52) and Reformers of Prisons. Though last season’s Division II champions have exhibited top level quality in play, it has failed to yield any wins despite strong starts in both games.

Against Rangers, Dynamics took over the game’s lead early in the second quarter but let go in the final minutes of the games to lose by two. Against Reformers, Dynamics held a whopping 16 point lead heading into the second quarter to lose by five at the end of the game.

The losses have resulted in enterprising young trainer Feranmi Olulonyo’s side sitting bottom of the ten team table with two points and a goal difference of minus seven.

The team’s failures to close out games has deprived it wins even during preseason. Playing against Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship winners University of Ghana, Dynamics had a two point lead heading into final multi seconds of the game. However, two quick turnovers resulted in a 36-38 loss.

Magic on the other hand will seek a second win to improve its sixth position on the standings. The team has a win from two games.
In Olulonyo’s words, the game against Magic is a “win or go home” for us.
