Tudu Magic Coach James Okine has expressed his disappointment following the team’s inability to play over the weekend in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) due to flooding. Magic was scheduled to play DC Dynamics in the final game of Week Five at the Lebanon House. Fire Service was due to play Navy as Air Force was scheduled to play Reformers of Prisons on the day as league administrators called off the games.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com, the outspoken Coach did not sound too happy with the postponement after heavy rains in Ghana’s capital, Accra, flooded the court prior to 17:00 GMT tip off time. However, the rains stopped two hours before jump ball leading him to believe the games could have been played.
“The rains have stopped and we have an hour to prepare for it. We can even play the second and third game around 7 to 9 (pm)” he said.
However, he conceded player safety had to be prioritized to prevent injuries stating “Safety is paramount”. Magic sit sixth on the table having won one of two games for the season.
Dynamics on the other hand, are winless after two games suffering defeats to Teshie Rangers and Reformers. The Dansoman-based side sit bottom of the table.
