Fire Service recorded the biggest win of games played in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division by beating Teshie Rangers 72-42 at Lebanon House in Ghana’s capital, Accra. Reformers of Prisons and Tema Youth beat Holy Family and Air Force respectively in the remaining games on the day.

Fire’s magnificent win over a strong Rangers side was marred by Small Forward Farahat Tamimu’s ejection after exchanging some choice words with a game official. The side blew aside Rangers who have looked solid in the team’s first go around in Division I following promotion from the second tier.

Holy Family’s miserable run in the league continued as Reformers extended Family’s losing run to four games by beating them 60-52 in the opening game of the round. Family put up a good fight to narrow deficits at many points in the game with likes of James Offei, Franklin Arhin and Eric Afful rebounding well and converting free throws.

However, Reformers had enough fire power from Elvis Pobi-Siaw and Felix Abagi to outlast Family’s fight.

Tema Youth brushed aside Air Force 56-38 in the final game of the day to close in on league leaders Braves of Customs. Last season’s runners-up ended up victors by playing calm and composed basketball whereas Air Force played with frenetic pace leading to loads of turnovers.
