Veteran Broadcaster and Chief Executive Officer of Rite Sports Yaw Sakyi Afari,is in line to be awarded Sportsmanship Man of the Year at the Exclusive Men of the Year (EMY) Awards slated for the State Banquet Hall in Ghana’s capital, Accra later today.
The award which seeks to honor “great men who are causing positive change in the society” per Executive Director of Carbon AV Projects & Events-organizers of the event- Kojo Soboh, the award ceremony will be graced by prominent personalities in the country.
Yaw Sakyi, whose name has been synonymous with basketball for the past decade, has been nominated alongside football stars Asamoah Gyan, Dede Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp, Boxer Richard Commey and baseball personality Albert Frimpong..
Through his heralded programs including Sprite Ball Championship-an annual inter high school basketball competition- basketball has become the second most popular sport in Ghana. He also hosts premium basketball show “Fast Break” which airs on Ghanaian channel TV3 on Sundays.
