Top side Air Force will face Fire Service later today at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra in a crucial Accra Basketball League (ABL) game for both sides. The fixture which tips off at 15:00 GMT will be followed by Braves matchup against a Navy side still without a win.

The round’s matchup between the top two sides against the lowest pair in the standings comes along at a tricky time where a win for Braves will cement their status as odds on favorites for the title. However, should Air Force lost against Fire Service, usurping Braves at the league summit will be difficult.

Air Force terrible start against Reformers in the previous game cost them a game. Losing 5-15 in the first quarter sparked a remarkable run to tie the game at 38 through the third quarter. However,Reformers Guards Promise Ofori, Augustina Amuzu and new recruit Juliana Cudjoe buried baskets to safe guard the win.

In reverse order, Fire Service had a good start playing Galaxy as Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Year nominee Carlyn Adjei run rampant scoring seven straight points including a pair of beautiful drives. Fellow MVP nominee Selina Quaye began asserting herself on the game which culminated in Galaxy leading 29-16 at the end of the third quarter before seeing out the game 36-32.

Adjei and Quaye will battle for the game’s ultimate individual award on August 12 at the 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards due to be held at the Best Western Premier Hotel.
