The famous Lebanon House Court will later today host a basketball tournament dubbed Peace Hoops 2016 which runs between September 26 and October 1 with the aim of promoting peace awareness ahead of Ghana’s national and parliamentary elections slated for December.

The program, operating under theme, “Promoting Peace within our community, teams, players, and out motherland Ghana during this election year”, will have eight teams drawn from several parts of the nation’s capital compete.

DC Dynamics, Galaxy, Tema Youth, Teshie Rangers, CYO, Reformers, Novas and Asylum Down and Ridge are scheduled to represent communities including Dansoman, Tudu, Tema and Nima.

Several dignitaries are set to grace the tournament which is being bankrolled by National Democratic Congress Korle-Klottey Constituency aspirant, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings. The prospective Member of Parliament and daughter of former Ghana President Jerry John Rawlings, has been a key player in humanitarian and philanthropic ventures over the years.

Ahead of the tournament, the court is undergoing a major facelift with lines being repainted and cracked spots filled and smoothened. Lighting, which has affected late games at the venue, has been fixed in time to accommodate games in the evening.

Games will be played between 16:00 GMT and 20:00 GMT.
