Nungua Coldstore and Ashaiman Lions have confirmed their places in the finals of the Tema Community Basketball League after recording respective wins over Flashlights of Tema New Town and Community 12 at the Community 4 Basketball Court.

The semi final games was structured into a best of three had Lions beat Flashlights 41-34in the opening game of the round before Coldstore delivered a 39-15 win over a hapless Community 12 side.

Lions opened the first quarter with a 15-7 lead despite getting pegged back by New Town Guard Kingsley Quist who drilled in the game’s first shot and consistently kept Lions defense busy as he furiously drove at them.

Top marksmanship beyond the arc from Carl and Elvis Pobi-Siaw maintained Ashaiman’s lead through the second and third quarters (23-17, 33-23) came under threat when Nana Tuffour Afriyie scored four straight points and Quist stole a ball from Pobi-Siaw and converted a three point shot to reduce the deficit to a point (33-34).

Conversions from the free throw line from Phillip Amalor put Lions in the perfect position to win the game.

Nungua on the other hand, robbed fans at the venue off a competitive game as it delivered a cold hearted blow to Community 12 dreams of making the final game. At the end of the second half Nungua led 11-1 and Enoch Borsah made it 22-7 after scoring off an offensive rebound.

A late offensive burst from Community 12 made the final score respectable.
