The 2016 Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I season has come to an end with Braves of Customs successfully defending its title by beating Tema Youth 67-52. Missing out on a place in the final, Fire Service Center Joseph Boye is adamant the season was good for his side.

Speaking exclusively to Basketballghana.com after his side beat Reformers of Prisons 67-60 to win third place, Boye was in good spirit despite falling in the semi final game to Tema Youth. He said:

“I feel good even though we were expecting to win the ultimate…so we won’t give up we are going to train hard and next season when we come back, we fight for the ultimate”

He also weighed in on the chances of Tema Youth and Braves to make the main Africa Club Championship tournament by first qualifying from the FIBA Zone Three Africa Championship, saying, “I think so looking at Braves I think they have very good players, they have sharp shooters. When it comes to Tema Youth they have the strength. I think both of them can compete outside”.

Boye played an instrumental role in leading Fire to third place by beating Reformers for the second time this season at the Lebanon House on the final day.

Braves is set to be in Togo’s capital, Lome on October 21 to compete at the African Championship but Tema will miss out due to financial shortcomings.
