Host Opoku Ware School has set up a mouth watering semifinal tie against T.I.Ahmadiyya Senior High School (AMASS) in the ongoing Ashanti Regional Basketball Championship. Spots in female and male divisions at the national championship-Sprite Ball Championship- are up for grabs.

The two time bronze medalist Opoku Ware eliminated Kumasi Academy in the opening round by completely whitewashing the side by 37 points to nothing. AMASS’ boys team, on the other hand, beat Kumasi High School 18-13 in the preceding game.

Unlike its female counterparts, the male side has failed to qualify for Sprite Ball. AMASS’ female side, a two time national champion, are on course to make another trip to Ghana’s capital, Accra come January 2017 after qualifying to the next stage at the expense of Kumasi High’s female side. The side beat Kumasi Wesley Girls High School 4-0.

Kumasi Anglican Senior High School (KASS) beat St. Louis Girls Senior High School in the female division’s second game of the opening round. After a scoreless first half, the ladies from KASS delivered just in time to fend off Louis.
