The first round of games of the Global Sporting Platforms (GSP) Basketball League has come to a close following seven weeks of riveting and spectacular display from the eight team roster of the Sunyani-based league.
The headline story on the final day of the first half of the league had lowly ranked Desert Rabbits score a surprise 59-33 win over second placed Barracks Scorpions. After several weeks of suffering losses, Rabbits’ half season ended on a high note with the resounding victory.
Suncity Braves continued its winning ways by clinching a 49-42 win over Sunyani Polytechnic in a matchup Braves were expected to dominate from start to finish but did so in an uncomfortable manner. The side ends the round atop the standings and unbeaten.
West Siders beat University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) 29-25 in the opening game of an equally entertaining game. West Siders have been in good form this season and its latest win keeps the side in the hunt for top spot should Braves slip in the second round.
Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints handed bottom ranked LIR Royals a 28-20 loss in the final game of the round. Games will resume on November 26. Below is recap of results of Week 7 games:
