Brimah blocks shot as Aflakpui looks on.

University of Connecticut Captain Amida Brimah won the Ghana duel over Temple University Power Forward Ernest Aflakpui as Connecticut beat Temple 73-59 in front of an ecstatic crowd at the Gampel Pavilion.

Brimah recorded 13 points, three rebounds, six blocks and an assist in 26 minutes on the floor.

He was efficient from the field as he converted six of eight attempts and his blocks were the highest in the game.

However, he turned the ball over on two occasions.

Amida’s streak in good performance is sure to boost his rank on the draft boards as he seeks to become Ghana’s second ever player to be drafted into the NBA. He is averaging 7.4 points and 6.4 rebounds and 3.4 blocks for the season.

On the other hand, Aflakpui had a quiet night after registering six points, four rebounds but matched Brimah’s assist rate with one dime. The second year Forward played 17 minutes. Brimah dunked on Aflakpui in an interesting sequence after recording a block.

The win gives UCONN its seventh win in 16 games and plays Georgetown University on January 14 as Temple takes on Tulsa.
