Blatche.

Ghana Forward Benjamin Bentil’s career in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) doesn’t look good at the moment as the Sekondi-born player has not featured for CBA side Xinjiang Ghaunghui Flying Tigers past five games.

Bentil who was signed as a replacement for injured Center Andray Blatche has not played for the Tigers since December and has lost his spot in the rotation for the Chinese team.

Blatche’s return from injury coincided with Bentil’s absence since the CBA caps the number of foreign players per team.

This is the latest incident in what has been a whirlwind introduction to professional basketball for Bentil who made history by becoming the first ever Ghanaian born player to be drafted into the NBA when Boston Celtics selected him 51st overall in the 2016 NBA Draft.

However, he was signed with Indiana Pacers after being released by the Celtics before joining Indiana’s Development League side Fort Wayne Mad Ants. After playing just a game for the Mad Ants, Bentil signed for Xinjiang.

The Flying Tigers are second in the CBA standings behind leaders Shanghai Sharks with 23 wins and five losses. Xinjiang plays Jilin Northeast next on January 20.
