Brimah blocks shot as Aflakpui looks on.

University of Connecticut (UCONN) Men’s Basketball Team Captain Amida Brimah is not featured in the top 60 positions in latest mock drafts on the 2017 Class per nbadraft.net.

The 6 foot 11 inch Center is playing his final season for the Huskies having won the National Championship in 2013 with the likes of Portland Trailblazers Shabazz Napier.

He is looking to become the second Ghanaian born player to be drafted into NBA following Ben Bentil’s selection by Boston Celtics in last year’s draft; he was selected 51st overall and is China with Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers.

Brimah is averaging 7.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game. His rebounding numbers-generally considered a weakness in his game-has improved from 4.6 recorded last season.

Playing against countryman Ernest Aflakpui of Temple University, Brimah paced the game with five blocks. He had a taste of the NBA when he worked out for teams before pulling out to return to UCONN.

University of Washington Guard Markelle Furtz is projected to be drafted first overall per hoopshype.com and draftexpress.com also peg the 18 year old floor general as the first player to come off the board.

The 2017 Draft takes place on June 22.
