Kwara Falcons Center Romeo Wilfred Enan has been nominated for the top prize in the DSTV Nigerian Male Premier Basketball League following an outstanding debut season in the West African top division.

He has been nominated alongside Kano Pillars duo Abubakar Usman and Dele Ademola and Romaric Yamalin of Nigeria Customs in the Male Player of the Year category. Winners will be announced at a ceremony to be held later tonight in Abuja.

The Ivorian played in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I in Ghana for reigning champions Braves of Customs before jetting off to Nigeria. He also starred for Accra Technical University during his time in the country and was named Tertiary Player of the Year at the 2015 Ghana Basketball Awards.

In his first season in the league, the 6 foot 9inch top shot blocker had an easy transition as he bossed the field on his way to earning an All-Star selection.

Enan was named Most Outstanding Player in the game before getting his side into the league’s final four.

His impressive form convinced League Champions Kano Pillars to bring on board for the side’s international tourneys that began in Togo with the FIBA Zone Three Africa Championship; Pillars won the competition.

The team again placed fourth, this time at the FIBA African Champions Cup held in Cairo, Egypt as it lost 76-88 to Association Sportive de Sale in the third place game. Al Ahly Club of Egypt won the tournament.

Accra Technical University are record winners of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship. This year’s competition begins in February.
