All Nations have qualified from Zone B

UCC (red) and TTU are set to clash on March 3.

The Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship has tipped off with games in Zone B commencing this year’s edition.

Matches in the zone were played at the Koforidua Technical University (KTU) as the host played KAAF University College, Valley View University and All Nations University College.

All Nations qualified after topping the zone courtesy a three game winning streak.

However, six more zones are to be cleared in subsequent weeks for the quarter finalists to be drawn for group fixtures set on April 6 and 7 in Ghana. Zones D and E include last year’s Finalists University of Ghana and Accra Technical University.

Next up is Zone C which has Takoradi Technical University (TTU), University of Cape-Coast (UCC), Cape-Coast Technical University and University of Education-Winneba (UEW); games are to be played at UCC.

Last year’s fourth placed team TTU and host UCC are considered favorites to qualify from the zone in light of their strong achievements in the competition which includes a 2015 bronze medal.

All games in Zone C will be played on March 3.
