Mozambique’s Male National Basketball Team is preparing for next month’s qualifiers to the 2017 AfroBasket Championship by calling up 16 players to camp to challenge for top spots in Group H.

Coach Milagre Macome made the call up as the Southern African country steps measures to take on Botswana, Zimbabwe and Seychelles between March 19 and 25.

Augusto Matos headline nine players who featured at the 2015 AfroBasket held in Tunisia. Winner of the zone qualifies to the main championship in Brazzaville, Congo Republic between August 19 and 30.

The second place team will get to play for a spot in Congo against the second placed team in Group G which features South Africa, Zambia, Angola and Madagascar. Africa’s most successful team Angola, is expected to top the group and advance.

Zambia is the host nation.
