UCC (red) and TTU are set to clash on March 3.

Takoradi Technical University (TTU) heads into this year’s UPAC Basketball Championship without key contributors including Forward Raphael Buchag.

TTU begins this year’s campaign on March 3 when it takes on host University of Cape-Coast (UCC), University of Education-Winneba (UEW) and Cape-Coast Technical University in Zone C.

The Takoradi-based side will be without some principal actors headlined by the former Armed Forces Senior Technical star Buchag who featured for the team that placed fourth at the national championships.

TTU beat UCC 49-46 to top the zone after beating UEW 61-33 prior as UEW pulled out of the competition at the last instance.

However, Forward Ernest Laryea who featured last year was adamant the side will be ready for the Championship on Friday.

Starting Point Guard Kent Fosu was named Most Valuable Player in the zone in 2016 after leading the side to qualify and is with the team.

UEW and UCC competed at the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games basketball competition with the latter placing second behind reigning UPAC Champions University of Ghana.

UEW crashed out at the group stage but have confirmed its participation in this year’s edition.
