The last time Ghana Forward Ben Bentil was at the American Airlines Center, he failed to step on the court in what would have been his NBA debut in Dallas Mavericks win over Miami Heat.

However, things changed in a positive in the following game against Atlanta Hawks as the former Providence College standout became the first Ghana-born player to play in the NBA with a four minute cameo.

Though he went scoreless in the period, he is line to create further history if he scores in the early hours of March 4 when Dallas plays Memphis Grizzlies at home.

The game will be played at 1:30 AM GMT.

Bentil signed a 10 day contract with the Mavericks from Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA’s Development League.

He averaged 14 points and five rebounds per game for Fort Wayne.

Following a 95-100 loss to Atlanta Hawks, this is a must win game for Dallas to keep alive its hopes of making the playoffs.

Dallas lie 12th in the Western Conference standings while Memphis looks set to make the playoffs again with a sixth position.
