Ben Bentil’s contract with NBA franchise Dallas Mavericks is up in the air and set to be discussed following the expiration of the deal.

The Ghana and former Providence College Forward signed a 10day contract with Dallas in late February after impressing for Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA’s Development League.

The deal ended after Dallas’s 122-111 win over Los Angeles Lakers before a raucous home crowd at the American Airlines Center who serenaded Dirk Nowitzki in light of the German becoming just the sixth player to score 30,000 points in the league.

Bentil made Dallas’s bench in four games but made just two appearances totaling seven minutes and 76 seconds in that stretch.

The Mavericks roster is at the maximum 15 but the return of veteran Point Guard JJ Barea from injury means one player has to be waived to make space for the Puerto Rican.

Guard Quinn Cook, who signed a similar deal with Bentil is on the clock to be waived considering Dallas has a ton of Guards who can take up spots in the backcourt.

On the other hand, the team has few options on the wing to keep Bentil in the loop for another contract but his minuscule minutes and production can go against him.
